Walnut Effective to Overcome Diabetes

Although the actual body needs sugar as fuel, health experts claim that sugar is "poison" the body when consumed in excess. Most plural disease that follows is diabetes.

To overcome the problem of diabetes, experts also continue to do research. A new finding, published by the Journal of Nutrition states that walnuts beneficial for lowering blood sugar levels. Walnut consumption was able to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, such as reported by the Daily Mail.

The study was conducted on 140,000 American women. Those who ate 28 grams of walnuts twice a week, with 24 percent less likely to develop diabetes, compared to those who did not eat at all. Although the study was conducted in women, these findings also apply to men.

According to experts, walnuts are a natural solution to overcome diabetes. Especially, for those who are overweight and physically inactive, or in those who are not adopting a healthy lifestyle.

The scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston also collected data from 137 893 patients with type 2 diabetes on diet performed. The researchers found that patients who ate walnuts one to three times a month four percent lower risk. Meanwhile, patients who consume 13 percent once a week, twice a week and 24 per cent.
