Drink Coffee Habits Trigger Enlarged Prostate

The prostate gland tends to increase with increasing age. Enlarging usually begins at age 50. The exact cause of this disorder is not known. But the habit of drinking coffee allegedly triggered.

Enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia. Patients with this disorder have difficulty or are unable to urinate. Urinary retention can increase the risk of urinary tract infection and can damage the kidneys.

Medications can control symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, as well as surgery and dietary changes.

Coffee and other caffeinated beverages should be avoided as it can worsen the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. This is because caffeine is a diuretic that increases urine production and the desire to urinate.

In men who are suffering from an enlarged prostate who have had a urinary tract irritation or pressure on the urethra, caffeine consumption exacerbates symptoms because it increases urinary frequency.

The link between coffee with the risk of prostate enlargement is not yet clear. Several studies conducted showed opposite results. 2002 study found that coffee consumption significantly increases the risk of prostate enlargement.

Besides coffee, the lack of consumption of vegetables and fruits known to increase the risk of prostate enlargement.
