Prevent Stress and Disease with Music

Various studies have demonstrated the benefits of music to enhance immunity to disease treatment. Recent analysis of more than 400 scientific reports even mention the music may be better than cure for several diseases.

The study, led by Professor Daniel K. Levitin of McGill University Department of Psychology analyzing hundreds of studies on the influence of music on the body. Broadly speaking there are two areas that benefit most from the music, the immune system and mental state in reducing stress.

"We found strong evidence that the intervention of the music has an important role to health, ranging from the operating room to the family clinic," says Levitin.

But more importantly, continued Levitin, neurochemical mechanism has been found to be influenced music the greatest effect for 4 terms, namely management of mood, stress, immunity, and social ties.

Here are some of the conclusions from the study:

- Listening to music is far better than drugs to reduce stress before surgery.

- People who listen to music have rising levels of immunoglobulin A, an antibody that exist in mucosal tissues and helps prevent infection.

- People who listen to music have a number of immune cells called "natural killer cells" more. Immune cells are useful for fighting bacterial infection of the cells, and cancer cells.

- Listening to music can reduce levels of cortisol in the body. Cortisol is a stress hormone that has many negative psychological effects and can lead to obesity.
